I pull back. It sometimes isn't good because I tend to then isolate. Sometimes getting hurt is better in the long run..life has risks..i needed to hear myself say that..thanks

Getting hurt whether physically or emotionally is part of living. If you consciously shy away from connecting with other people, sharing intimacy at whatever level, I don't think that's healthy actually. I guess you just have to toughen yourself up, be matured enough so that whatever hurt you encounter, you won't be so devastated. Getting hurt isn't nice but that's one way to the road of maturity and learning.
Cheerio!

Support from family members and good friends always helps me.
I don't stay friendly towards people who would turn on me in such a way and I usually tell them where to stick it, in a mature way of course and then ignore them.

I have built walls in my life against some of the more painful things. But, my husband and kids have torn down a lot of them.
Peace.

There are many ways. But if you never get hurt emotionally you won't grow as much as a person. Sigh. I know how that sounds - so trite and patronizing. "Thanks, Grandma!" Haha.

I hide much from those I come in contact with. It's safer, if not sadder at times, that way.

I get hit so much, eventually, you get used to it, and it stops hurting so much...
