Like, when will they update everything - external, and internal.

Will they be updated before the end of May?

Oh yes, and what are the Pros and Cons of a Mac book and Windows?

Which do you prefer?

They just updated them... the internals at least recently so I'd say at least another 6 months maybe. Don't quote me on that.

Pros to OSX - no viruses, no spyware, no system crashes (software might crash but on a Mac it doesn't bring your whole system down. this is a coding principle taught the first your in programming... surprised Microsoft hasn't incorporated it yet). More pros... most user friendly and intuitive system that just works. With each new release of OSX Apple's systems run better and faster because they actually write their operating system to optimize your current system resource... and not require you to go out and buy all new peripherals and updated graphics cards, more memory...etc. My 7 year old PowerMac runs better and faster than it did on day 1. And I am constantly authoring DVD's, in PhotoShop doing heavy editing, in MS Office... and usually all at the same time... Try doing that on a 7 year old PC that's running the latest Windows OS. Hint: you can't. One more pro... although it seems like a con at first... they are more expensive on the front end, but they will save you so much money and time by not having to go out a year from now or two years and buy a whole new system because yours just won't cut it anymore... not the way Apple works. And it will save you SO much time by not having to constantly troubleshoot and fix problems. Apple is really the driving force of the computer industry. They are always innovating and adopting new technologies long before the others.

Cons to OSX - slight learning curve as it's completely different from Windows... in a good way. (everything i did daily on a pc i can do faster and in fewer steps on my mac) Only took about a week of using it to get used to it. Sold my PCs the next day. Might have to buy new versions of software... do it, it's worth it! (all applications on my wife's 1 year old Dell run better and faster on my 7 year old PowerMac)

Pros to Windows...

Cons to Windows - constantly fixing problems, it's Windows, MS is always at LEAST 5 years behind in the game... never an innovator always a follower...

After spending 20+ years constantly fixing PC problems I finally had had enough and bought my first Mac.... sold my PCs the next day. Literally. If that's not enough, someone in my family works for one of the biggest names in PC manufacturers and he threw out all of his home PCs and replaced them all with Macs because he was tired of constantly fixing problems. He's going on 6 months with no problems at all. He even went so far as to buy his daughter and her husband a new Mac so he wouldn't have to be fixing their computer constantly everytime he was there to visit. All of that time fixing computers has been replaced with family time.

Also... Apple's customer service is second to none. My 7 year old system has only had one hardware failure and it was in its 6th year and it was fixed for free at my local Apple Store... 3 years after the extended warranty had expired... you WILL NOT get this level of service from any other company in the industry. You come to them with a problem one day after your warranty is up and they'll tell you to piss off..... Trust me... I used to work for one of the biggest companies in the business and have family that works for another...

Like I said, it will save you so much money getting a Mac although it is more money on the front end. I've never had a PC last me 7 years... I've never had a PC last me 2 years. I would have burned through at least 3 PCs by now (gearing up for the 4th) and spent more than twice what my Mac cost.

The average time between MacBook updates has been 199 days. They were just updated 19 days ago.

The average time between MacBook Pro updates has been 186 days, and they were last updated 168 days ago.

Pretty much everything else in this answer is speculation. But all the MacBooks will almost certainly get an update before May of next year.

Rumors are that Apple will release an "ultraportable" (very small) MacBook soon, and there've also been some credible rumors that they're working on a tablet-style machine with Asus (which may or may not be the same product as the ultraportable.) This is probably going to be either an entirely new class of product or belong to the Pro line.

New product releases normally occur at MacWorld Expo and WWDC conferences. MacWorld Expo 2008 is in early January (January 14-18th, 55 days away.) The timing is about right for a major MacBook Pro update, because by that time it will have been over 200 days since the last update. If there is a new product announcement, it will probably either be announced as part of an update to the Pro line, or in addition to such an update.

Apple's portables don't usually change much in their styling. So far, when Apple has adopted a design for their laptops, they stick with it as long as they can. So I don't think we're going to see anything like new styling for the regular MacBooks for awhile.

The MacBook Pro however, still takes many of its design cues from the Aluminum PowerBook and the Titanium PowerBook before it. Notice that the keyboard style of the regular MacBooks has now been standardized across Apple's whole product line. The MacBook Pro's keyboard, though many die-hards prefer it to the new style, is a bit conspicuous. Apple has been on a design kick with glass and aluminum lately, from the success of its iPhone to the look of its new iMac. I think that an update to the MacBook Pro design will likely reflect this and look similar to these products.

There's no need to compare MacBooks to Windows, since the MacBook can dual-boot Windows using the Boot Camp software included in Mac OS X. Several recent benchmarks have found that the MacBook Pro is the best-performing Windows laptop on the market (it performs just as well as the crazy-go-nuts Alienware laptops) -- go figure!

Early next year, according to Apple.

Windows for Gaming, OS X for everything else.

Or use Boot Camp, or Parallels to run Windows on a MacBook. It's the best of both worlds and no known malware!!!

I prefer Xp as it's easier to use leave aside the loopholes.

You can try Ubuntu or Linux also.

Regarding the update no one can know easily because if they inform one, Microsoft might bring one soon.
Don't go for Vista at the moment as Vista SP1 is expected.
