Your iron may be too hot. Follow the instructions that came with the garment. Cottons and linens can be ironed on hot or 5 and 6 setting. Rayons and polyesters get ironed on 3 or 4 setting.

If you want to clean the iron, wait till it cools completely, then use mild soap and a sponge to remove the stuck on fabric, or use something non sharp to scrape it off.

And I hate to tell ya, but Silverstone and Teflon is two of the worst materials used to finish an iron. Dupont (the manufacturer of these materials ) would like you to think otherwise, however they're full of manure. If I were you I would get an iron with a chrome metal sole plate.

Teflon is one or the few one sided substances created in American laboratories. Obviously the teflon side can't stick that would be silly. The non-side is actually called nolfet and sticks to anything. Hope this clears things up.

I would say that you have the iron on too hot. Look at the fabric lable on the clothes and that should tell you what tempreature to set the iron at, or even on the iron itself usually has markings on the heat control which tells you what is safe for whatever fabric.

I use a pillow case inbetween the iron and clothes. To remove stains use a, damp, gentle abrasive cloth
