I would like it to be the cheapest it can be, because I am only young and will be paying for this entirely myself. I would like a gaming laptop, since the soul purpous of me getting one is so that I can play the games that do not work on my computer.
It dosen't have to have a TON of memory just enough to store the actaual capcity that the games will take, so around 256MB RAM. The hard drive should be around 3.5GB and a windows XP. Thanks x

The first question you have to ask yourself is, "Why do I need a laptop to do this?" Most people that have laptops, don't really need them. They're almost a fashion accessory! If you need one for space reasons or if you need to work in different places then fair enough but to play Sims2????
My brother and I built a PC (originally for me about 5 years ago, but now my 11 y.o. daughter's) with a 1 GB processor and 2 x 20Gb hard drives and 256Mb of RAM. On this I have XP and some of my data, Office, a 5Gb Linux partition and quite a few other programmes/Games. It runs Sims 2 perfectly well and as a couple of the add-ons on there. The cost of the whole thing. The cost was under £100 including a new CD/DVD writer (£30) and a few hours work. OK - my brother and I both work in the business. He gets a lot of the "bits" for free and I deal with the software side of things. Even so.......
If you really must have a "cheap" laptop to play Sims 2, then your best bet is e-bay. Most new stuff will come with Vista pre-installed and their isn't enough space here for me to give you my opinion of that. If you do go for a new one, check very carefully with your supplier. (3.5Gb hard drive? I haven't seen one of those for 10 years!). Will it run Sims 2 and any other games you want to play? That's your primary question.
In any case you would need to pay about £300 to £350 and most models at the "cheap" end of the scale are much the same. Best advice is to upgrade your PC or get a new one.

I bought a laptop about three weeks ago from a shop called STAPLES which cost me £299, a real bargain I thought. It has 512 RAM and 60 gb hard drive that's plenty for what you need. It is a FUJITSU SIEMENS Amilo Li 1705. It has Vista and runs fine I hope this helps

Your basic PC laptop comes with about an 80GB to 120GB HD. XP takes up about 3.5GB of that.
