I have read it and it got me mad.
Saudi society is all about hypocrisy. the surface seems clean but underneath, it's the worst place to live.
I remember this trip to Riyadh where I had to wait to board the plane at Cairo Airport among some westernized Saudi women to the extent that you think the flight is going to Paris.
When the flight arrived at Riyadh, all of these women were hidden under heavy black clothes. In return flight, exactly the opposite has happened.

First of all, Islam is more exciting in the eyes of western men (action men) as the headlines about Islam in the western world. In Islam, this kind of rape has only one punishment, death penalty. If u have time take a look at the constitution of Pakistan about womens rights in the light of Islam.
For e.g if someone undresses a woman and leaves her naked on the street, for him/her is the death penalty. But in reality, there is no respect of women in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and other Islamic countries because they are all democracy seekers, not muslims. I'm sure u know the friendship between Saudis and the Govts of the western countries. In Islam, the dignity of a woman is untouchable. Under the feet of a woman is paradise but it is sad to say as a muslim, after the death of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, existed Islamic Govt. for only 65 years. (Khalifah Rashideen). Thereafter, there's no more Islamic Govt. in this world. The Islamic Govts. , what we see today are opportunists, despots and puppets of the west.

This story only makes Islam look worse in the West. I know, I am American. I don't see how they {the government} are judging the woman as if they are Allah themselves. See that they charged the WOMAN with being alone with the man, not the MAN being alone with the woman! This is sick and twisted. Like many have already said, this woman has already been through hell, and then they beat her for it? American people look at this and then it reinforces in their mind what the media says about Islam....you know, the typical lies: Muslims can beat their wives, women are forced to wear hijab, they can blow themselves up and get 72 virgins in heaven, Muhammed was a petaphile......................all those lies are only reinforced in their mind, and if the Middle East really cares about converting the West than they better do something to clean up their image. I only speak from experience. I can see through the lies, and I know the majority of Muslims are good people. I live near a large community of them.

As far as i know, islamic law says if a girl or a woman is raped and it is proved...then the guilty person's head will be chopped of or be executed in some other way. There will be no mercy shown to him. And to the victim, we are asked to be compassionate and help her/them every way we can. There are things that we don't read and apply from Koran, yet some nations claim to be a islamic sate. How sad!!!

Beyond being outraged about the image of a religion,we need to first send our hearts and prayers to that girl.Who is already scarred and damaged from what has been done to her.I can only imagine what she is suffering now.We all need to pray for her,I ask God to give her strength and somehow intervene so she does not have to endure this unspeakable cruelty. She is just a child really, this is intolerable to me.Something needs to be done,we all must do our part!
She obviously is very brave, brave because she spoke up! that took tremendous courage....
IYADH, Saudi Arabia — A 19-year-old female victim of gang rape who initially was ordered to undergo 90 lashes for “being in the car of an unrelated male at the time of the rape,” has been sentenced to 200 lashes and six months in jail for telling her story to the news media.
Let us all have a moment of silence/prayer for this courageous young girl!

Gang rape is probably one of the worst criminal acts you can do to a female, but condemning the woman to lashes and a prison term is madness.
Hasn't the poor girl suffered enough hell, while her perpetrators get off lightly.
Saudi law will allow them to be executed for this ugly crime.
Unfortunately, when people read about such barbaric sentences on an innocent rape victim, they get the wrong impression on the Moslem religion.
A similar story happened in Dubai to a 15 year old French boy who was homosexually assaulted and had to leave the country before the police accuse him of being gay(he was not).

we must not judge islam or its image by looking at such criminal acts.
it's a violation of all human laws BUT , those who passed the sentence are wahabis, ie v strict sect that see women thru a degrading spectrum.
also, the woman is a shiite. in saudia, shiites arent treated like sunis. this is another violation of all human rights.
third, in saudia, a woman shouldnt be in the company of men. ok, but what put her under the mercy of these men? did she go on the car by her own will? never, she was forced. BUT the men could be sunnis and she is shiite.
she is forced to undertake this punishment bec it her luck to be tried by biased judges who carry islam by mistake.
this story isnt raised by anyone bec of the shitte/ sunni issue.
the judges will meet God one day and will get a fair trial.
hasbiya alah wa ne3m al wakeel.

I'm not surprised but i am disgusted by it. Still women are flocking to this religion in the west. It must be some kind of masochistic streak in them.
Edit: It's because of their oil wealth that we are forced to maintain close relations with the barbaric Saudi regime. This fact alone goes a long way to justifying the Iraq war in my mind if the war was really mainly about oil.

I can't believe such laws still survive! This proves that old and archaic doctrines and beliefs must further be examined.
We understand that the Moslem religion has a set system of beliefs but in todays world is that really applicable? Further punishing the woman will only detract from the real crime committed here, her rape.
Hopefully the media still supports her cause.

Salaam Alaykum,
It doesn't shock most of us Saudi Arabia is not lenient like many Muslim countries and everybody knows that's the way it is. The Royal Family lives in excess, buys weapons from the United States we are allies you know, and spends lavish amounts of money on gambling and prostitution in The Royal House of Saud. Tell Bush what he did and that he is a dictator and that we should invade of them and dispose of them like Saddam. Oh I forgot Bush is friends with them.
Wasalaam oh sir be careful what you see on Fox news.
