I hear a radio ad several times a week saying: buy gas from kwik fill we get our gas from united refineries which only uses 100% north american crude oil, keep jobs in america. Now this being said, if the Iraq war...the dozens of other conflicts in the middle east....the general hate towards america....and President Bush are to blame for the extreme cost of crude oil from the middle east, why is North American crude oil and gasoline made from it the same price(even though shipping would obviously be cheaper)

Gas stations that sell gasoline from middle eastern crude oil, sell it for the same price as gas stations that sell gas from north american crude oil.

I couldn't find a conclusive answer but what you say makes sense. The USA is still the largest supplier of oil to the USA but apparently and when I was in the industry, it cost more to find and pump oil in the US versus other countries because of higher labor and transportation costs and because the easy oil was already found and pumped. Same price as what, I live in Germany where regular unleaded (Benzin) is at $7.99/gal so where in america is it not cheaper then that??
