Honestly, I am immensely peeved at the attempts of the Liberal party to scare the Australian public into steering well clear of the ALP and Kevin Rudd.

I would like to see Kevin Rudd win the election. The whole "Rudd will stuff up the budget" thing is desperate. The Liberals are going by the results of past ALP governments, and I challenge them to actually advertise their positive side, not the ALP's negative side.

Therefore, my question is thus; Have you been affected by the Liberal's scare campaign?

both parties have got the money to campaign eh? and the voters are going to pay for it.
the right person should start fulfilling the promises straight after winning the election, instead of waiting for 2 years and then start taking some actions in order to bribe some votes.
the coalition is currently also in control of the senate, the senate should not be a rubber stamp or a place of boycott and plain resistance that no bill can ever pass; it needs to have substantial independent voices that they are not compelled to support any major party, they assess the bills on a case by case basis. I support the Democrats first then Greens, and hope they can win some seats in the senate so there's a check and balance. the big boys will get naughty if only they get the control of both houses.
(one thing though is, the Greens will be just as pro-union as Labor, if not more so, Union may protect workers, but could harm businesses; if businesses are out, workers lose their jobs; Democrats take a balanced stance not to over lean towards either side)

Bush is a conflict monger and gets us at conflict with the international. The republicans do no longer care appropriate to the working guy. Bush and Cheney the two are basically grasping capitalists. The republicans do no longer something yet lie and start up wars. Bush will convey lower back the draft, you will could bypass to conflict. I say theses issues because of the fact i think of them to be actual and that i'm a liberal.....I very own a company and am extra advantageous than in charge for my own self, yet another lie through the republicans. Do you somewhat think of we are all on welfare and are not waiting to help ourselves? you're mindless sheep blindly following the Conservative line ,obediently following the sheep in front of you in no way finding any the place different than good on the sheep's in the back of rapidly earlier than you .Use that large massive suggestions, you Republicans all say you have for some individualized questioning .....Wow what a concept,a republican who thinks out side the field...

That's politicals for you. At the moment the Liberal Party don't have many things going for them in terms of positives (I mean look at the IR reforms etc). It's easier to win votes by discrediting the other side than having to draw attention to your positives (read weaknesses). Having said that, if you have been paying attention to the Labor ads they haven't been much better!

In terms of the budget issues - it is true that the Liberals have a better record when it comes to economic matters. Given the current economical climate (increasing debt, inflation, rising interest rates etc), it can be said that the Labor Party could make vital mistakes.

Having said that, it's not like the government of the day can really change the economy. Interest rates are still going to rise regardless of who's in power unless Australian's cut back on the credit card debts and stop spending.

I wouldn't say I've been affect by their so-called scare campaign as I agree with them to a certain extent (based on my own thoughts not the advertisements). Whilst I don't particularly like the Libs, my dislike for Labor is greater and as such, regardless of the advertisments, I'll be voting Liberal (or possibly a smaller party).

I think generally Australian are smart enough NOT to fall for 30 year old arguments.

It really only enforces the fact that the Liberals only focus on the past!

If they had any achievements over the past 11years they would be advertising them, but they're NOT. If they had any plans for the future they would be advertising them, but they're NOT!!

It has helped to reinforced me to vote for a leader of the next 10 years not the last 10 years. That is Labor!

I have previously voted Liberal. Never again, that I promise!

GUNIT F...If the Labor's scare campaign is about WORKCHOICES then why.... do I have a dilemma regarding AWA's. Accept a possible $150 dollars cut per week or face the sack to allow workers who will work for the reduced amount! There is a lot more detail but this is the basic version. This is despite the fact i have a University Education, nearly 10 years experience and have been commended on my work many times from management!

The campiagn about workchoices by Labor is true... trust me!!

It's obvious that the Liberal ads show desperation as Howard and the rest know they are on the verge of losing the election. The liberal ads assume that unions are bad and like what other people have said, they focus on the past.

Compare that to the Labor ads. The labor ads shows facts and focus on the present...there was one where it says Kevin Rudd will stay the full-term and John Howard saying "I won't" and Rudd also stating he will abolish workchoices where Howard says he won't.

The liberal ads are largely based on assumption where the labor ads have some real truth to them. So no, I have not been swayed by the liberals' scare tactics.

Kevin Rudd had an advantage of the people having disliked the policies of John Howard on increasing taxes and support for the Iraq War.

No...Most people have a reasonable idea what they want...and to see the Liberal Party having to desperately use scare campaigns is a waste of money. They only really make the followers of the Liberal Party feel good. The make the Labor Party laugh knowing the desperation of the "Born to Rule" Liberals.

We have only ourselves to blame. Enough people in the electorate fell for Mr Howards scare campaign on interest rates and Latham/labor last time, so why wouldn't they try it again.

You have to remember that for anyone that's made up their minds, the negative ads are really very annoying, whichever way you've decided to go. But some of us apparently have difficulty deciding and like it or not, the play it safe factor is always there (the better the devil you and all that, history shows it in spades).

If anyone saw the Four corners show on swinging voters, they should be very worried that Howard will get back in, based largely on these scare tactics. Once again we will "reward" an exceptionally arrogant and dishonest government, based on fear of the unknown.

In direct answer to your question, I think anyone who makes up their minds about who to vote for based on "negative ads", needs to have a long, hard look at themselves.

Oh I have definitely been swayed to vote for them ....

as for the Best Act In The International Comedy Festival

it just gets more and more slapstick the closer to the election we get...

EDIT: RE the scare tactics against the Liberals when it comes to IR laws...
consider this:
WE are in a boom .. whether or not that comes down as a result of good governing by the Libs...
BUT when the boom bursts ( as all good booms do regardless to who is in power) and there is suddenly a glut of workers ALL underbidding one another in order toTRY and get a job .. HOW low a wage WILL you be prepared to accept in order to get the job before Joe or Jill Bloggs ???

because that is what will happen .. .and I haven't been told that by any Labor Pollie... It's commonsense.

it's like those that deny man's influence on the RATE OF CLIMATE change ..... how can you not take into consideration the decrease of vegetation ( due to man's activity) and the increase of chemical out put ( due to human activity) and not think that something is out of balance.....
It's commonsense and I haven't needed to have a scientist tell me ....just a basic high school education SHOULD make you see that.
