First off, there were multiple fronts as you have heard from other answers. Out of all fronts of the war, we could have to say the Eastern Front was the bloodiest due to the fact that the Russians threw millions into battle and fought longer than any of the allied forces. And finally, most people do not realize this but the Axis forces were winning in WW2 before the Americans entered the war. When the Americans, British, and Canadians invaded on June 6, 1944, the war turned a new leaf. And was put to an end on September 2, 1945. So basically, the Americans brought it on home. =]

Right: empty packet of forest fruit yoghurt break; a packet of Wrigley's Ice extra (half full); another packet of Wrigley's (finished), £3.64; unidentifiable wrappers; memo from work.
Left: small bits of paper that have possibly been through the wash; a shredded doggy bag; empty pack of poppets; a lighter; a poppy; a note with people's names I wanted to do internet searches on
Coat pockets hold more so you can't really realise the full extent of this problem. Glasses and wallet go in the coat, for example.

Nine hours ago (when you asked this question). I had a few tissues and a pen in my right pocket and some nappy sacks and nail clippers in the left. I was still in my uniform and hadn't emptied the pockets up to that point.
