I live in middle of nowhere, far from any auditions. My parents cannot afford to fly me anywhere, or have the time worry with things like that. Is there anything at all I can do to actually get a shot to audition?

Middle of nowhere also meaning that I don't have school productions, or even a drama class. As far as we've searched, there aren't any place that offers lessons, and the local plays are very far apart, even though I plan to audtion.

Get and agent and slowly build a portfolio. Go for as many auditions as you can and join any dramatic clubs or societies. Practice all the time and become confident and smile lots! Ask friends to help you and read plays to broaden your knowledge. There is hope out there. Don't forget to stay focused at school so that if in the future you have a change of mind you have something to fall back on still. Look on the internet for auditons and there are magazines and newspapers out there dedicated to auditions that are local and/or far away. It's costs alot of money to become successful to start saving too. To get into RADA it's takes £10,000 and alot of talent. Good Luck x

I'm in the same position!! I am also an aspiring actress and I am glad to speak to someone like me. I am auditioning (I live in the UK) for the National Youth Theatre in March and I have to take a train and a tube to London but I am going with two friends (one of whom is also auditioning). If I get through, I go to two courses and audition for the company. I then want to go to Guildhall and become a screen actress. If I get through the audition on the NYT, then it's altogether going to cost me 850 pounds - yeah alot! I have to save up incase I get through - you will have to do the same. It's most likely you'll have to travel to New York for the best auditions. If I were you, I'd wait until you were eighteen (if you're not already) and move to NY or a busy city. Then, you have a better shot of auditions and it's most likely you'll have to move there anyway if you get through. If you get through the auditions, it's the easiest way of finding out if you are actually a good actress. Good luck and keep me posted =)

why dont you look at your local newspapers or go to craiglist.com i mean they have open auditions anyone can go and audition for it...or just get some picutres of yourself and than send to a commercial agent(they take more new talent than t.v and movie agents) they care about the personality more than acting skills after working in a few commercials you will have some cash and experience and than book a hollywood agent and he will do all the shopping for you( finding an audition) etc...be positive and never give up doesnt matter whtever ppl say just be positive..

Does your middle of nowhere have an acting school? If it does, take classes and then have a photographer take head shots for your portfolio. Get a local agent. You can get acting jobs for local TV ads, etc. Act in local theater to get more experience - even school productions.
