Yes they have freedom but do they have equality? they work, have to take care of the kids, clean up the house and not to mention the errands that need to be done on a daily basis. Men on the other hand, come from work and sit on their butts and watch ESPN and nag about all kind of the things that should be done to improve things around the house while the American woman has to do the majority of the things. So my point is this, women are free to do what they want in America but men are the ones who have the upper hand! its sad how American women have freedom but with a big price to pay!

I can not believe what i just read, finally a man who sees all the bullshit.t we women have been putting up with forever. You have these women on here saying that they are not like that, all women put up with their husbands coming home from work going right to the remote control and sit in front of the boob tube and wait for their dinners to be served. I would say over 85 % of women do this day in and day out.
I love you Mark ox ox ox !!!
Mark I'm a pretty typical American woman i have worked all my life and also had to do all the cooking ,cleaning, washed his clothes ironed his clothes raised our son take him to school pick him up from school lucky for me i had the kind of job that allowed me to do that. All my husband did was put in an 8 hour aday job and he had the pleasure of coming home to a home cooked meal every single day. I come home from work and i feel like my job has just begun. I don't know what all those women are talking about because everyone that i have every none lives this way.

Well, not all American men are like that. I'm from North America, not the US though, thank God. My partner does not sit on his butt, does not care for sports and does all the cooking and the grocery shopping around here while I take care of the laundry and we both tidy up the place together. Neither of us are interested in children, but if for some weird reason we did have children, I'm pretty sure most of the responsibility would fall on him. I'm not maternal actually, I'm more of a cat person.
Any woman who is willing to live like you described that clearly lacks self respect and the know how to get a proper man either that or she's a traditionalist tart, but that's pretty much the same thing isn't it? The unfortunate part is that society does perpetuate this female self hatred and does encourage the male upper hand and because the vast majority of people are of less intelligence than I'd wish, situations like you described are the norm.
Remember, feminism is a fairly recent thing and mass cultural change cannot and will not happen over night.

There's nothing forcing them to enter into, be or stay in that situation. If they are dating a man like that they can stop. If they are married to one they can approach each other as adults to motivate each other to be a more mature participant in the household. If the man still sits on his butt and watches ESPN and neglects her she can divorce him, and very easily these days. Whether or not one gender or another has the upper hand is dependent on the people within that group's ability to control the situation. I prefer a balanced responsibility scheme with my soon to be wife, as our skill sets are complimentary and not typical of our respective genders. Oh yeah I love football, but I can't stand ESPN because theyre cramming that boring Euro fubol down our throats.

American women do not have to stay where they are treated badly. US women have choices. Some women have very low expectations and they get abused.
As to American women doing things around the house, I used to enjoy doing plumbing and fairly heavy yard work. I have given up plumbing, but I am glad to have the knowledge to understand proper plumbing.
I would hate to be somewhere that did not allow me to be educated and use that knowledge or not allow me in public alone or drive or vote, etc.
Americans have over high expectations often. That leads to complaints, it does not automatically mean bad treatment. It may mean bad attitude.

Hold up...A man or hell woman is basically like a child they test you see what they can get away with and then keep doing it or add on to it. Someone has to be willing to put up with that bullshit for it to happen. Not all women will do it and trust me almost every woman I know their husbands or boyfriends dont like it they can leave and they'll tell them just that.

The women who do this, or let their partners do this, are fools. Rather, the women who give men like this the time of day are fools.
I think a lot of women just do not realise how a relationship, and how their lives are supposed to be, so they let themselves be treated badly when they should be standing up and destroying anything that messes with them. Women need to be stronger, for their sakes. :(

I have equality in my marriage. I would not have it any other way. I work and so does he but the house work and the yard work are done by both of us. When our kids were little he also took care of them. I don't know why you think this is how it is. In some marriages it is but not all of them. Some of us won't settle and others will.

You have no idea what the word freedom means then. In some countries women are seen as property and treated like slaves where they still clean the house work in fields and raised the children. Some women don't appreciate being able to sit on their butts and run their mouth all day on the phone, watch the soaps and spend every dime in the mall behind shoes they only wear once. My bad, I forgot, and nag their man to death about them being lazy. (You Funny).

I actually cherish my wife .... is that really unusual? I don't think so, most of our married friends seem to have something similar.
Sitting around on one's posterior pointlessly will decrease that indiviual's contribution to society in general ... let alone, in a marriage.

I'm glad I happened upon your question. As I think about it, thanks to my wife I know how to do laundry, cook, clean the house. Organize the bills run the kids around town and do ALL the other stuff the poor ol' lowly woman you describe has to do. And since I'm "getting up there in years" I really don't need her for sex. So I believe I'll be calling my lawyer in the morning. Thank you so much for opening my eyes.
