I have a hard plastic cutting board with a rough surface, the juice from the meat gets in the cracks and stuff and doesn't come off just scrubing it with hot soap and water, what is a good way to clean and sanatize it?

That's right the dishwasher will clean and sanitize.

* In the food industry we also spray surfaces with 70% alcohol for instantaneous sanitation.

* Peroxide can leave residue on the surface which will contaminate food. And if you rinse after sanitation, you recontaminate surface via rinse water contamination. But alcohol will flash off not needing rinsing.

* Remember one bacteria will become one million after one hour at temp >4 C to 60 C (>39.2 F to 140 F).

Good Luck!!

If it's white, put it in the sink and pour full strength clorox bleach over it and let it set for 15 minutes or so. Then wash really well with soap and water. If it isn't white or if you have a wooden cutting board run it under water to dampen and then rub table salt into the surface. Let the salt sit on the board for 20 - 30 minutes, then place in sink and pour white vinegar over it. Let the vinegar sit for a few minutes and then wash with soap and water.

Food grade hydrogen peroxide. Most health food stores carry it. Dilute up to 10x depending on concentration (it's usually 35%, the stuff for wounds is 3%). Then get thee a bamboo cutting board. Bamboo is stronger than most available woods for cutting boards, very durable and naturally antimicrobial. Mine delaminate before they get scuffy on top and last years.

Like Kerry T, I just run mine through the dishwasher. It's a Pampered Chef and looks as good as when I bought it 6 years ago.

I would use liquid Ajax and a scrub brush. Don't use bleach.
