I had an example of it at a meeting to-day I expressed concern at the racial card being played at schools in non racial disputes
(the you would not have said that if I was not black or whatever)
I was told by a certain lady that that question saddened and coursed her concern. I told her so be it but the concern and question was legitimate had had to be asked. Sanity was actually regained by the calming influence of a lady of colour
who pointed out that it was not just blacks who did this. I must confess I had not heard that one before and it shows how much we and me in particular have to learn without political correctness getting in the way.

If people followed little more than the basics of politeness and civility there would be very little use in having political correctness.
That said I think there are loads of white people who decide the rest of us shouldn't do or say things because they think it MIGHT offend others, they have no real proof that it does, but "just in case". The muslims offended by xmas decorations thing - ask a muslim if it bothers them and they'll tell you it doesn't but councils ban it anyway!
I don't really see what difference it makes to anyone calling it a chalkboard rather than a blackboard: it's a board painted black! But if black people, and I've never known one who was, are offended by it call it a chalkboard, although it's less descriptively correct.
A lot of the language we use today became commonplace in the victorian era and if you look at Britains history in that time we weren't a very culturally sympathetic nation, but that's the way the world was then, so I assume there are phrases and thing that we use/do today that offends the people who live in our society today.
Personally I think it's like Health and Safety: it's a few people who can't do anything else think up more and more ludicrus schemes to keep themselves in work.

"Don't get me started!" - Political Correctness will be the end of society as we know it.
We can't say or do anything that might possibly offend someone else who wouldn't think twice about expressing their opinion whatever we thought.
We can't discipline our children properly (I did and had no problems) so they'll grow up expecting to get whatever they want by whatever method it takes.
The Police & Teachers can't treat children/youths the way they need to be treated for fear of being prosecuted.
ASBO's are a waste of time, 'bring back the cat' - a public flogging would be much more effective.
"I blame the parents" - we live in a society that has forgotten the most basic, important requirements - respect, self respect & consideration for others. If children are taught these things from birth (that includes teaching them what they can and can't do and rigidly enforcing those rules) crime, yobbish behaviour etc will reduce.
I'll stop there or I could go on for hours!

Political Correctness is extremely harmful to any country.
Crime: judges make too many wrong decisions
Public schools are mis-educating, biased, and no child left behind is harmful, not helpful.
I am for finishing the job in Iraq
I hate hearing Americans talk badly about the US
Secure the border
Socialism is more than just a serious problem

Political correctness is nothing short of lunacy. A convicted paedophile can move into your street were caring people are raising their children and that's OK! We the people are not allowed to know if our children are being put at risk, because it is against the paedophiles human rights! What about the rights of an innocent child?
This is only one example. They whole p.c. thing should be abolished. Further more who knows what p.c. really is? No one has ever told me! It seems to me that it is the biggest piss take of all time, is it the 1st of April every day in Britain.

This isn't a new thing..... the belt or taws (in Scotland) was stopped around 1975 or so. Before then , if a pupil misbehaved , woe betide them... the threat was enough though. I frequently got six-of-the-best by sadistic teachers. A letter was sent to your parents to tell them as well , so , after it arrived on my mother's lap , she gave us the same as well. The word was R E S P E C T for your elders. Nowadays , this firm attitude is completely missing from youngsters. How does one "enforce" discipline without direct action?. The neds/chavs are living in a different world now. Not all kids are bad today... so don't over-generalize.

I've spend time in your country and in Asia with your expats I have a few good friends but most I don't care for and some I'd like to take out I find in Asia most of your expats try real hard to fit in. I as an American well not bow to anyone.Nor well I let outsiders 'bad mouth' my country Most of your expats well do both But they have no idea what is said about them when they leave the room When you try too hard too please many view you as weak You ask about education, there are times when I feel,y'all twist history But I'm sure you feel the same

Political correctness is a silly piece of crap. I have no use for it. And from the early 70's I have watched the UK slide from great to vey bad.
Every government from the early 70's has ruined the UK.
The UK needs a government that genuinly cares for the people and the country. But its so nice to live in hopes.

Disaster! bring back discipline, abolish probation officers and social workers and have military courts. Of course most people won't like that, but as we have already swung to one extreme, lets swing over to the other and then see which is best for normal sensible people.
