I was taught by my parents that one should learn to control ones emotions. Then I was taught by a psychologist (after failing in many instances to control them) that one can not control ones emotions. Emotions are a built in inherited response to situations and will well up without our being able to do anything to stop or start them. But this psychologist also told me that one could always control what one does ABOUT their emotions. So do not feel guilty or have remorse over a negative emotion but learn ways to control socially unacceptable responses (actions) when they arise.
Don't give in to anger or hating but squelch them by not acting on them.
Good luck controlling what you do about your anger, good mental health, peace and Love!

It helps me to think this way -- it takes a LOT of energy to stay angry. Why give anyone that kind of power over you?? Use your energy for something positive.
Holding on to anger and hurt can only lead to BAD things...

anger is an emotional state; so your question is actually : how to control your anger, to reduce it ?
when you are angry then your are controlled by your emotions, and you loose your senses.
So, let (sometimes urge) your senses to control you then you will realize that it was pointless to be angry.

They sell squeezy bean bags at CVS. I learned it's much more effective than saying something stupid in anger or breaking something. It's a relaxing outlet.

Well, take a deep breath. Think about things you like and think in your heart:he/she will suffer. BUT never take revenge yourself , because ... you just do whta i told you and other people will do the rest for you. I always do that, I don't know whether it will help you. I have a imaginary god in my heart. LOL
