It's a TOTALLY different driving experience.
The WRX is rough, unpolished, high powered, steroid-filled AWD rocket that likes to play in mud and snow. On dry roads, AWD doesn't make too much sense.
The BMW is a refined driving machine that not only has power, but you can feel the luxury and engineering that has gone into the car.
By the way,
"Bimmer" = BMW cars
"Beemer" = BMW bikes
"Beamer" are not BMWs; they're a LaTeX class for creating slides for presentations (see Wikipedia).

If you are at all considering the long term value and resale of either car then the BMW is the way to go HANDS DOWN.
Even if only in the short term the BMW will be SUCH a better driving experience above the WRX you won't belive it.
For real proof just rent each car for a day from Hertz and feel the difference for yourself.

It depends what your friend wants. The 328i is plenty fast, but a boy racer may want the Subaru for the extra speed. To me there is no competition between these two vehicles. But then personally, I am not looking to buy the fastest car I possibly can for the money. Luxury, safety, residuals, and features all impact my choice.
At the end of the day it all boils down to personal choice, taste, and what you want out of the car.

impreza wrx, ill tell u why: the bmw 3 series are the cheapest cars bmw makes, they are still good cars but they give the impression that you are tryin to pretend u are rich when you see a 3 series people know that that is the cheapest car bmw makes and know you bought the cheapest, imprezas are cars that have a touch of luxury (test drive one) and a touch of sportiness (turbo car) and awd which bmw doesnt provide
just tell your friend to test drive the impreza thats what will tell him/her for sure

Although Subaru has nice metallic pedal finish, but the BMW has a wonderful "organ-type" accelerator. Concept as given by researchers: Prevent footwear slip.
Also, you can always get metallic finish for BMW. The only problem, in Malaysia, we do not have first-hand manual transmission BMWs. (for latest models)

not being bias or anything but the subaru is a better buy. unless you want luxury, the wrx sti, has all the looks, interior, and performance. however the bmw 3 srs is a beautiful car to drive, quiet on the inside, but not all that high up on performance wise. the 'better' on the car is up to you, on if you want performance, or luxury.

WRX-I but they do not hold value or have maintenance includind. Bmw is a more refined spoe\rts car.and going to a used M# or 325si will beat the Subaru and have high end options .

wow this is a tough choice
if he wants something luxurious then go with the beamer
if not then yea get the wrx , you can never go wrong with awd +turbo. the wrx will run laps around the 328i...
you can compare a 335i with a wrx but not a 328i, the 335i is bad asss 300hp twin turbo, if you get the 335xci you get the awd model!
