Does this occur with a lot of things in life? Sounds like a symptom of OCD -- obsessive compulsive disorder, specifically a compulsive behavior. Doesn't mean you actually have it, but if your compulsive behavior (accompanied with obsessive thoughts or images you can't seem to control) gets in the way of your life and functioning, it may indicate OCD, in which case a leisurely visit to a therapist may be in order.

However, if it's not disruptive to your life or social life, then it's no real issue.

It's actually common for perfectionists to not get things done. They feel that if they can't do it PERFECTLY, why do it at all? But this is no way to live -- you will never be happy. If you can't FORCE yourself to continue the game even though you've made mistakes, then you need counseling.

Please get help if you need it. Good luck.
