Who thinks there should be a law or some qualifications? Some of these guys that ESPN gets are horrible? Sean Salsbury? He was a horrible qb. Just like Shawn King. Both on ESPN!

ALSO you can add the ESPN Monday Night football Fools on there as well!

Hodge, Salsbury and King are horrible! Schlereth was ok. nothing great. I wish they would get better players or coaches. I can't stand Mark Schlereth he is full of himself! There should be a test before they bring these fools on TV!

Schlereth spent most of his career on IR. 29 surgeries. That is crazy!

I know, it's ridiculous. I don't even need one commentator - let alone two for a game, and any show that I watch usually has no less than three butt-munchers who don't know much more than the Average Joe. At least my girlfriend appreciates the fact that I have the TV volume all the way down during games, and watch about 15 minutes of a post game show. The non-stop talking gets on my nerves.

Schlereth is definitely qualified. He played 12 years in the NFL, All Pro guard twice, 3 Super Rings (2 with Denver and 1 with Washington), played in 156 games, had 29 knee operations in his career.

Those guys aren't that bad. Their stats as players have nothing to do with their ability to analyze or do color commentary. Dan Marino notwithstanding, the better someone was as a player, the crappier they are as analysts. Great players tend to rely more on ability and never really study the game.

Good analysts who were not great players:
Tom Jackson
Chris Collinsworth
Ron Jaworski
Quadry Ismael (did i spell that right?)

Great players who are horrible analysts:
Deion Sanders
Michael Irving (entertaining-yes, insightful-no)
Robert Smith (Short career, but poduced when he played)

First of all, Hoge was a fullback, not a running back. Schlereth was a stud. Apparently network experts consider these guys to be good analysts. It has little to do with their professional careers.

They're former football players...Not that they were any good...Shaun King was for a year or so with the Bucs...Salisbury was a career backup with the Vikings...Hodge was OK...He was the RB in Pittsburgh before Bettis came along...

They're more qualified then you....

Should there be a law? If you really don't like them, contact your congressman and see if he or she can write up a bill and get it passed though Congress.

I might be wrong, but wasn't Schlereth one of the lineman on Denver's Super Bowl championship teams?

No. I don't think Merrill Hoge is even qualified to be alive. I don't think Salisbury should be allowed to be alive.
