Earth has a metallic core too. Besides mars is smaller than earth which means it would probably have a smaller core.

If the metallic core takes up a smaller proportion of the planetary mass then it can certainly have a metallic core and still have a mean density less than that of Earth.

Mars has a metallic core, it's just smaller. The density of Mars is less because unlike Terra(Earth) is has no magnetic field. It also has no plant life and very little atmosphere.
