A man's life starts out fresh and new(like morning dew) and then is wasted each day if he does foolish things or does not get his work done(like the fire consuming everything until nothing's left). It means that we should always be preparing for the next life and getting all our business finished now since we may not be here tomorrow.

Hmm I'll try
morning dew comes and it leaves; it goes away
The flame eating up the oil, is also using up what it has.
now to compare this to a man's life.....
I would imagine that being younger you have more possibilities and you are nimble and what not, and as you age things that you once did become a think of the past and then you are no longer this invincible idol that you looked up to, its just leaving with your age.
Using the flame and the dew would just be a much more speedy example of how what is good and what you have leaves.

Dew only appears at night in the lush green grass.....disappears after the Sun is fully risen.
Our life is the Dew and Flame. Our desires consume us just as the Sun dissipates the morning Dew and Oil burns in the Cold of Night, evaporating away as heat and so we are temporary as they are, but nevertheless part of the scheme of things.

Well, the sun comes up slowly and evaporates the morning dew; just like a flame does to the oil. It means that our lives are not forever. We have a certain amount of time here and then we are gone.

Both quotes refer to slow leaving. The morning dew evaporates as the day heats up. The flame uses up the oil each night. So is man's life, it passes day by day event by event until the final event -death.

The morning dew is when a man is first born and new. And the flame refers tothe aging process that slowly eats up his life.

well, first of all, that is a textbook example of a "mixed" metaphor,in that the 1st part has no physical correlation to the 2nd part!but certainly it is a depiction of the slow dwindling away of life, here this morning, gone with the heat of the sun or the continuing darkness of night.

well it doesn't make much sense but I think it means that men take everything. They use everything up and think they can have whatever they want. They are consuming and wasteful and then they are gone and you can't find them anywhere so that you can yell at them for drinking all the milk and putting back the empty milk carton!
