Is this a megaman battle network glitch?

Question

when i was netbattling gutsman v3. he used his z-punch with invincibility. Then I used sensor3 which hit him. he continued with the z-punch but i could damage him. The game operated finely. What happened? was it a glitch in the game or something else?

This is for megaman battle network 3 blue version
