Well, of course, I’m not gonna shake my laptop, but sometimes I carry my laptop when it’s turned on, on my backpack, and while I’m walking. Can something bad happen to it?

If your laptop is in sleep mode, then there is no problem. The only issue is when your laptop is using its hard drive when you shake it. This can cause crashed heads, which can destroy the hard drive.
I carry my laptop while it's active too, and there should be no problem as long as you're really gentle with it. Treat it like a baby.

I've carried laptops around while walking and haven't managed to destroy any yet doing that so you should be OK (laptops are designed under the assumption that people will be doing that kind of thing so they can typically handle it, although I haven't managed to drop any while carrying them around either).

Though if it's in an enclosed space with no ventilation I'd be worried about overheating if it is on.

Yep, becuase if it's still turned on the headon your hard disk is still touching the plates and it might scractch the disk leading to bad sectors or even hard disk failure.

of course, some laptops nowadays have software to protect against that but I suggest that if you're going to be moving the laptop some distance, at least put it on hibernate.

Simple answer, No. Manufacturer's expect this and test for it so it should hold up within reason of course.
