In food, it means that the meat is... well, kinda funky-tasting. If it's a reference to a personality, it's a sort of salt-of-the-earth thing, like a coarse person, or an "easy" woman. Somewhat of a base nature. I bet that didn't help, huh? Like someone is a little slutty, or really in touch with their lower nature, you know? Good luck with that one....and maybe look it up in Wikipedia or an online dictionary!

To me, "gamey" means "smelly," as in "The venison tasted a bit gamey." This means I didn't like it much, it smelled and tasted not good, not to my taste, not the same as a good burger.
This can also be used when you leave some meat in the fridge beyond its expiration date: "The steak's 'use-by' date was last week, but when I barbecued it, it wasn't gamey at all." This means the steak didn't taste spoiled.
English is wonderful for stretching the meaning of words. "Gamey" can also refer to situations that could have a smell to them: "The loan shark offered the victim a gamey deal- he'd let the payment slide if the victim carried some contraband for him." This *might* work out all right for the victim- he'd do something illegal or shady and maybe not get caught. But he could get caught, and the loan shark would be in the clear. This deal is smelly, no? Thus this deal could be "gamey."
One more option- youth subculture could have a unique and specific meaning, too. So without a context, I can't help you. But you can figure it out from the context. That's how we all learn a language as babies- the context: someone gives you a bit of food and tells you what it is. Then you ask for that by name. That's the context of the situation.

The only context I've heard the word gamey ued in is referring to wild animals ( game ). People will say that something smells or tastes gamey referring to the fact that it is related to wild game.

Smelly and rank. As if you had run around in the sun all day with a wool sweater on, then slept in the jungle, then woke up the next day and did it all over again, without showerin: you would smell pretty gamey.
Example: Dude...put some deoderant on, you're pretty gamey.

It can also refer to the taste, not just the smell of animals that are hunted for sport or food.. As opposed to say cattle, which are farmed animals.
