How can a team that went 14-2 last year with players like Tomlinson, Gates, Merriman and Philip Rivers be 5-5? What changed that drastically?

I'm surprised that you're surprised by their underachieving. First, Norv Turner is a horrible coach. Second, this is the same team that missed the playoffs 2 years ago. Third, Merriman is not on a steroid cycle after he got caught and he looks terrible. Maurice Jones Drew kicked the crap out of him and Merriman looked like he was just accepting it. Phillip Rivers is not a good QB. I don't want to hear about physical skills. He has the skills, just not the leadership or the ability to read defenses. LT, while a great player, hasn't shown much leadership either. This is just an immature team who lost it's leader - Marty.

The change in the coaching staff brought the team down, I mean who would fire Marty for bringing the team to being
14-2 and hire NORV TURNER???? who would hire Norv Turner period.... And Philip Rivers was lucky last year he is not a talented quarterback he needs to be out along with Norv Turner and the GM

Definently the Chargers (San Diego) The Titans slightly would desire to hang in against Indianapolis 2d string and with Rivers and Ladanian Tomlinson (spelling may be off) they dont stand a gamble Chargers: 34 Titans:21

Coaching, period. Last year's Chargers featured LT as their primary playmaker. Norv Turner has gotten away from what worked for the team last year.
At least Turner is consistent. He has screwed up every team that has ever given him a head coaching job.

Lol, not the coaches fault, the team just sucks. Think back in 2004 they were 12-4, made the playoffs, and still lost to the jets, next years they were 8-8 missed the playoffs, last years 14-2, lost in the playoffs, this year______.
You see a pattern growing, catch my drift now??

Play calling this year is atrocious on both sides of the ball. What is so complicated about "give LT the ball?" And what is so complicated about let Merriman be Merriman?

This is a no brainer! Bad coaching! Some of the plays I see being called on the sidelines are rather rediculous!
