James Burbage built the first commercial theater in England--called simply the Theatre.. Until the Globe was built, Shakespeare' s company (the Lord Chamberlain's Company) performed there. James's son Richard Burbage was the leading man in the company, so there's a good chance that he debuted one of the lead roles in Julius Caesar. The question is which role he would have played--Caesar, Brutus, or Antony. My guess is that he wouldn't have passed up the chance to deliver "Friends, Romans, countrymen."
