that's great news, dude!
it will 'build up', yes, with practice and determination.
i recommend a cartoon film, 'dr. strange'. it's new.
there are an apprentice and a master there. here are some lines from that movie:
'only is difficult as you allow'
(the student tries to learn how to move things and he knows, as we all do, that 'there are limitations' and 'there is just no such thing as telekinesis':)
student: 'i'd say gravity and solid mass would have something to say about it too' - and he can't do it
master: 'you perceive this stones to be heavy, therefore they are. but, to the chosen few, weight is meaningless' - and he easily moves a huge stone
student: 'how do you do these things???'
master: 'by learning to accept the unacceptable'
guess what: the student becomes a master himself.
how does he do that? through practice and, more importantly, 'by accepting the unacceptable'
good luck, dude!

Okay for one this ain't meanolmaw, this is her meanolgrandkid...but some of these answers are right. It could have been bumped or anything. But no one knows if there are any people out there who have abilities that others dont. If someone out there does, they probably do not want to tell the whole world for fear of being picked on because they are "weird". Others like to blend in with each other and not stick out. But technically no one KNOWS for sure..it's possible. But like others, try with something different, something not so easily moved. Not saying you, but there are probably people out there experementing on things..who knows..
But try with a coin. Mabey start with a nickel or a quarter and move up to larger objects. Then see if it works out!

I pushed on a rubber band once, and it moved. I pushed harder and it fell off the table onto the floor. Then I thought really hard and realized that if the rubber band got caught in the vacuum cleaner that it could jam it or burn and produce a burning rubber smell, so I picked up the rubber band and put it in a drawer, where it rests to this day. true story.
I want to fly, too, but the only way it happens is if I go to sleep and dream about it. Much as we all want to have special powers and perform magic tricks, NO ONE has EVER demonstrated the ability to levitate, to move objects with their minds, etc. It's always been smoke and mirrors.

It's far more likely that there was a small vibration due to a large truck going by, a door slamming, you dropped your foot on the floor, you unknowingly bumped whatever your rubber band was mounted on, or any number of things. Your experiment is too poorly controlled to attribute that to telekinesis, I'm afraid. But please don't feel bad. Nobody else - ever- has been able to demonstrate such telekinetic feats, sleight-of-hand magic tricks and Uri Geller type fraud notwithstanding. You would truly be the first. :)

There's an old joke:
A tourist asked a hippie,"Can you tell me how to get to Carnegie Hall?"
The hippie replied," Yeah..
EDIT...Considering all the thumbs down everybody got...guess it's better not to answer some questions.
EDIT..Well..it just erased part of my answer!! Here it is again,,"The hippie replied, "Yeah..Practice,man, practice!"

I don't want to crush your hopes, but there really is no scientific reason why telekinesis could exist. Humans have no processes which could move a rubberband like that. The physics behind it don't make any sense. Energy could not be transfered between the two objects like that

Any skill will become stronger and improve with practice and determination -- but don't expect to send things flying across the room quite yet. Also, practice with grains of salt -- they are smaller and salt historically has mystical qualities.
It is quite possible that your psychokinesis and telekineses abilities are manifesting themselves in other areas, so pay attention to other oddities that happen, as psycho- and telekinesis are generally first noticed in "inexplicable" circumstances.
Depending upon any inherent abilities you have, your abilities could strengthen with focus and "practice." However, do not strain or allow yourself to become frustrated in your efforts, or this will impede any abilities.
If you do see your abilities strengthening, I suggest you seek out a local organization or school that studies the paranormal for further guidance, because such abilities, if not focused and trained have the potential of becoming dangerous and out of control.
I blow street lamps. Don't know how I do it or why (seems when I'm depressed or angry). I don't talk about it much because people tend to think "nut case," and I don't need the county sending me bills for the damage ;-P
