What would the founders of the U.S. have to say about our country today... as a whole? Just wondering about this.

"I think you need to re-read the Constitution."

That is a difficult thing to say. Firstly, the Constitution was deliberately left sort of vague so that the application of it would change with the times. Some people like to push the idea that the country today isn't nearly as religous as it should be, and because we're not all slaves to the church they'd be ashamed. I think they definitely would be a bit pissed at us for letting the gov't get away with a lot of the intrusions on our constitutional rights, such as the fourth amendment. Given the nature of many the Founding Fathers, it's really cloudy as to what they'd think. If you look at it, the Founding Fathers were all part of a landed elite land owning, slave hoding class. It's almost as if nothing has changed since then, you have a bunch of white, rich, Anglo Protestant jagoffs from back east somewhere trying to keep the rest of us under their thumb.

There's a poem called "The Colonial spirit" I think they would hang their head in shame for what our nation has been led into, the wars and invasions. They would wonder why were feeding other countries and letting our own children starve, our seniors go without proper medical aid and the way they back wars instead of going forward.

There was a time when I was a flag waver, when my country called me I went. I was in 'Nam for two years and the Army for ten.
I now wonder why. To support more crooked politicians, who make money off war.

Our forefathers would hang their heads in shame for what's happening to us.

They'd question how much we value our freedom, or lack thereof. We give up too many freedoms for the name of safety.
