I have an Emachines computer I bought from Best Buy 3 - 4 years ago and it has run great but recently it has been giving me grie, it sounds like its failing and I have taken it in twice to Best Buy and their diagnosics say nothing is wrong with it. It has been repaired 3 times now and the fourth time its considered a lemon and they give you a replacement of equal or greater prie than what we paid for it. Anyways, has anyone ever gotten a replacement computer from Best Buy from their no lemon policy and is there anything I can do to wear out my hard drive so their diagnostics know its failing and they dont know I tampered with it? Thanks in advance!

I know I have gotten my moneys worth, I know its better to build my own, believe me I have. This computer is getting old however and it under warranty. I want a new one so i need something to go wrong with it so i can get it replaced. My fiancee actually bought it before we met and now we want a new one.

They will give you a brand new computer, i would just let fail on its own. If you tamper with it you will NOT get a new computer. Hopes this helps

Dude I would get a new Drive and get the manuals from the emachines website on installing and removing parts. Do it yourself, it is easy to do all you need to do is disconnect the red black and yellow power connection, and the data ribbon, remove a few screws, pop the new one in and your off. I never do big box, I what repairs I physically can by myself unless warranty is valid. Besides they charge extra for every diag.

ok, 2-4yrs is what an average emachine will last or less. I would say that u got ur moneys worth out of that puter. the no lemon policy is if the puter fails within 2 yrs.

Just a tip, don't get brand name computers for your next one. They have very short lifes and horrible quality, build your own or pay to have a custom one made. Its not only cheaper than a name brand but lasts twice as long.

Whats the problem with the HD, you did not say.
