"Amendment I
Freedom of Religion, Speech, and the Press; Right of Assembly and Petition
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
It's a tired cliche, but it still holds true that freedom comes at a price. We have the right to say as we please, but we are to be held accountable for that which we say.

If you're looking for a specific incident, you could use Texas v. Johnson. The Supreme Court ruled that flag burning is constitutional because burning it, despite being controversial, is a valid form of expression.
