I don't think we need to worry about it. We already have close ties to Canada and Mexico, in spite of the problems with terrorists and illegal immigrants. We have all kinds of treatys and agreements and trade agreements and mutual aid packs. What more do you want?
So, No, not another bunch of idiots to sit around and waste our tax dollars and precious time and end up telling us what we already know or trying to make us do something we all know is a waste of time.

No.
We're America, and we don't need the Mexico or Canada for protection or anything. Maybe Canada should get some kind of military to protect their oil. Or, maybe they can just depend on treaties. That sure worked well with Russia. Canada sure stuck it to those Russians when they claimed the north pole. Oh well. They know we are obligated to protect them because we're the one's who are willing to pay for a military. At least they got a better health care system. Never mind all the Canadians in the American hospitals. Those must just be the ignorant ones that don't know that Canada's system is better and free. Hopefully the drugs will stop coming into this country when we give them 1.4 billion dollars. They're not corrupt, so they'll spend the money exactly the way we demand.
Well, then again, maybe it's not such a bad idea.

No, because the larger any unit is, the more it is unable to care for all aspects of its unity. The best example that I can think of was when foreign cars started becoming more popular in this country. Michigan, where American cars are made, wanted a ban on the import of foreign cars to protect jobs but had that happened, the West coast, where the cars arrived and were unloaded from ships needed those imports for the economy there. There is a tremendous gap between those with money in the U.S. and those living on the streets because the larger this country gets, the less time it has to be concerned with its lessor citizens and a North American Union can only worsen the problems of more people the larger nd more unweldy it becomes.

First line of action could be to get the country OUT of the SPP, NAFTA and CAFTA!

When you try to look for the many reasons to have such a union, protecting a common interest, uniting a common culture, achieving a common goal..... none apply to the whole of north america, there's no reason to have such a union. Maybe one for central america....

I think the free movement of factors of production would better enhance the comparative advantages of all countries involved.
I live in Canada, and this would definitley increase our primary industry economies of scale, while possibly allowing manufacturing in Southern Quebec and Ontario, and the NE states some advantages because of cheaper access to raw materials. Of course, the biggest advantage would come in forms of the service sectors.... this would eliminate all the red tape in allowing them to sell products in certain areas, or get labour.
I think we would see even more American infiltration (which doesn't really matter to me).
I think the only thing that is "iffy" about this union would be the HUGE flow of Mexicans into the United States.

Why on earth would we enable the Mexicans to all move here to take our welfare, and transform this nation into the great place where they live now?

I dont think any logical person would be for this. It basically throws out or "voids" our constitution. Whether were for it or not its already on its way. We must not allow our rights to go by the wayside one by one..Stand up and be heard.
