In my State .. inheritance goes to only the person who it is left to. The spouse of the person who received the inheritance is not entitled to any part of the inheritance. It is NOT community property.

You will need to check on the laws in your State .. because each State has different laws.

No, a spouse is *not* entitled to a share of the inherited funds/property. Anything willed or gifted to one spouse is not considered community property, but is instead the sole property of the beneficiary named on the will and/or gift. Most states follow this, though there are a few that might be odd, so I'd check your state's laws on this to be sure.

Nope. Inheritance is one of the only things that is not considered community property. My fiance received an annuity payment while he was still legally married...Louisiana is a community property state...and she was entitled to none of the money.

That depends totally on husband/wife money ideas!!! My brother just got a small inhertance from a relative, and his wife wanted to loan part of to HER son, who will not work consistantly, and he refused, and that caused some hurt feelings, (i don't think he got laid for 2 months) but he stood his ground and invested part of it, and has 3X times as much as he started with!! Smart thinker!! If he'd loaned (gave) it, it would just be gone!!
