scam is correct.......

why spend money on something you can NEVER EVER actually own or even get to.

it is not a legally binding contract over the ownership of a star.

Try the International Star Registry.

The International Star Registry above is the place to go. Just realize what you are getting....which is a plaque with your name on it from a commercial for profit outfit. Despite the name, I know of no astronomers that will recognize your purchase or your star name. Plus now it is getting difficult to locate "your" star (most are in the southern hemisphere). The plaque is kind of cool...just be ready for astronomers you meet to roll their eyes when you show it to them. They get upset because the ISR is making money naming stuff when people can go out and name any star they want as long as they realize no one else will recognize the name as the "official" name.

Don't its a waste of money. All that happens is your name goes in a book saying that Star J40098 is now named My Star. Its a waste of money. (Sorry about the negativity, it's just the way it is).
