Without a doubt, "Still" by the Commodores is an excellent R&B heartbreak song. It's a little old (1979) but it's worth a listen. Check out the lyrics, and see if it isn't sad enough:
"Lady
Morning's just a moment away
And I'm without you once again
You laughed at me
You said you never needed me
I wonder if you need me now
We played the games that people play
We made our mistakes along the way
Somehow I know deep in my heart
You needed me
Remembering the pain if I must say
It's deep in my mind and locked away
But then most of all
I do love you
Still
Those memories
Times I'm sure we'll never forget
Those feelings we can put aside
For what we had
Sometimes I try to understand
But it's so heavy on my mind
So many dreams that flew away
So many words we didn't say
Two people lost in a storm
Where did we go?
Where'd we go?
We lost what we both had found
You know we let each other down
But then most of all
I do love you
Still
We played the games that people play
We made our mistakes along the way
Somehow I know deep in my heart
You needed me
'Cause I needed you so desperately
We were too blind to see
But then most of all
I do love you
Still!"
Good luck finding your heartbreak songs. Peace.

LOL
hands down...Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black'. Even if your heart ISN"T broken, by the end of the CD you'll be knocking back amaretto sours right along with Amy. I'm so serious. That is a great CD for someone who just broke up because it brings all the emotions to the surface and it allows you to cry out all the emotion.
just to prove it, here are some of the song titles:
- tears dry on their own
- wake up alone
-i'm no good
- me and mr. jones (fuckery)

HURT:
(recorded by everbody almost...Dinah Washington, Elvis, Carly Simon, Connie Francis, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Juice Newton, etc,etc..
I'm so HURT to think that you, you lied to me.
I'm HURT way down deep inside of me
You said your love was true
We would never, never ever part
Now you want someone new
and it breaks my heart! o-o-oh
I'm HURT, much more, oh, than you'll ever know.
Yes, Darling, I'm so HURT
Because I still love you so
But, even though you've HURT me
Like No One else could ever do
I would never, ever hurt, HURT you.
