I think we should just have the government evenly distrubute basic resources to everyone because money is corrupt and ends up the rich always wanting more while the poor struggle to survive.

pdooma, no, it's the responsiblity of the people if they lost or damaged their stuff. The government gives everyone equal stuff and will continue to give them basic resources, so if theydamage something, they just wait until the government gives them more.

pdooma, maybe this way we would conserve resources if people took better care of their stuff. Americans waste too much food as it is.

Ryan C, I wouldn't base a career on how much it pays, but PASSION alone. What makes you say all the poor people have only themselves to blame?

Wow, where in the Constitution does the Government have the power to do that.

You must not have any friends who like listening to you...because you get so many answers when you stir up people's minds & emotions with the socialism & communism questions you ask on Y!A Politics section!!! Makes you feel important, doesn't it?

Pathetic!!

You're on a roll, how much money do you make, JJ? Don't quit now, because after all the ranting and raving you have done today, we all deserve to hear your answer...HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU MAKE, JJ? Answer that, or be a COWARD FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! Why aren't you telling us which ways would your contribution make this society BETTER?

OH MY GOD!!! Are you just pretending to be like this so you can come back and say "just kidding"? I mean, no one can really think like this!!! If you really want to live in the "perfect society" GO TO HEAVEN, cuz thats the only place there is one!

LOL! Do I like inequality? No, but there's nothing anyone can do about it. What I do like is people working hard for their money, getting the money they deserve, and being grateful for what they have by helping others. Eaglesphan32 hit the nail on the head. (By the way, that means he's exactly right.) And in response to your last comment, it doesn't matter how much money I make, because however much I'm telling you I work hard for it!! What's your point????

Money is actually the only equalizer in this world. What you are advocating is a select group of people (and how they are selected would be the subject of debate) would have this tremendous power over people. It is not money that is corrupt, it is people. Money is easier to use then me having to barter for things.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

There is no way that society will be better. Society will be significantly worse. By cutting the only link to the true value of goods and services (a free market), you will have massive inefficiencies in production. Farmers will be feeding bread to horses while the peasants starve, and you don't want that do you?!

There will always be forms of money..

Without paper, people will always have something other people want...

land, rocks, wives...

Take away the money, give all resources evenly, and there will still be people who will want to exchange those resources for something they want. And there will always be someone, who will collect those resources allowing them to have more than others.

Money is nothing more than an agreed upon holder of value. This value is easier to transport than having to barter. When you are batering without having an agreed upon value item, you don't always have something someone else wants.

It is time for you to discover what you can create that others want to give you value for.

If we didn't use money, we would use the barter system. Which in some ways would be better on a local level, but wouldn't work well when needing things that are not locally produced.

So you want to turn everything--al decisions about what you can have, what is produced--and hence how you work and what you receive in return--over to a bureaucrat?

It's been tried--in the Soviet Union--which couldn't even feed its own people as a result. In North Korea--where your Communist paradise is comprised of starving people. In China where they have slave labor and child labor (that is part of what you are advocating).

You're notion has been tried. It KILLS people--or enslaves them. No thnk you.
