Agreed. Asking for help is one thing. Asking for some one else to do you work for you is another.

unicycle jazz, the asker isn't talking about the kids that truly don't understand and need some help...they're talking about those that ask stupid things like "I have to write an essay on __________. Can you write it for me?" or "Do these 15 multiple choice questions for me and get 10 points!"
To those I say, do it yourself. I did my own homework in high school and dealt with the grades I earned.
And hon...high school today isn't any more challenging than it was for us, or for generations gone past. If anything, in some subjects, less is expected of you. However, every 10-15 years or so the wonderkids at whatever think-tank is deciding educational theory nowadays decides to completely revamp things and try yet another "new and improved" (read: experimental) method on school kids...and it usually happens to be something that your parents were never exposed to. (They were exposed to whatever "new and improved" methods that were around back in their day.)
So to the asker, I completely agree with you. All the lazy kids (you know who you are) need to get up off your backside and do your own work.
And for the kids who are asking honest questions - good. I am proud of you for asking when you need help. However, please don't think you have it hard...every hard-working student from the beginning of the educational system has gone through what you're going through now, and they made it through just fine. (I think I spent the 8 years of high school and college getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night.) Put in the work, do your best, and when you're done you've earned the right to schedule your own life and pick your own career.

I only ever post mine when I am at an absolute loss for what to do. Otherwise, I do my work. Some are lazy, and some kids talents are more for singing and dancing rather than the academics. Some kid's probably have emotional issues to deal with and cant think off their fveet like they used to. Solace and a quick fix is easily found on the Internet. We all have different situations...
But yes, some are just youtubing away while somebody is typing away at their homework answer...
If you know something they are asking, give them just a little hint that they can elaborate on by themselves. Tell them to try elaborate and see how their genuine interpretaion teaches them how to work independantley.

Keep in mind... When my parents try to help me with my homework now sometimes they are blown away by the difficulty level of it compared to when hey were their age. Assuming you're an adult... Things might have changed. Now the education system is pushing us all so much and making curriculum's increasingly demanding, especially in high-school. Add that to all the sports and other activities lots of kids do, there you have it. Honestly, have you seen a teenager in the past few years that actually looks well rested?
I think it's neat that kids are devoted enough to their education to really try hard to do it well and ask for help if they need to. Stop flaming.

Simple. Kids are spoon feed day in and day out. Why should they work independently? They realize that people will just do it for them. They have no discipline in their culture at that age. How can you possibly expect them to?
Society has devalued homework. You need to be creative and make a lesson fill like a good work out. When they leave a classroom they should have everything they could learn.
Instead teach them study tactics in your class and they might just respond.

I agree with you that they should be doing their own homework, that is the only way to learn, do the research and find the answers for yourself. People on here should stop doing it for them,. that is not helping them at all. I could see if they were asking how to go about researching a problem, but they just want you to tell them the answers.

I asked this same question here a few weeks ago and the only replies I got were stating that it is good to look to others for answers. This is crap.

Kids don't do their own homework because it's so useless!
When in our life are we ever going to have to use the US history information?
Who Cares?
And Algebra! Since when did math have any letters and stuff I mean ax=b comeon.
When in life will we need to multiply letters?
We get nowhere in life because we basically DON'T NEED IT IN LIFE!!

Maybe they do really need help on a question.
If you do not know something - I am sure you ask.
Stop critizing.
