The government has no business taking over PRIVATE businesses (GM). They cannot force Americans to buy a product they do not want (Health Insurance) under threat of a fine or jail. They have no business suing a state for enforcing federal laws that the feds will NOT enforce themselves. They administration cannot issue orders telling federal lawyers not to prosecute hate crimes where the victim is white and the criminal black.

The Tea Party began with libertarian supporters of Ron Paul. They see the Constitution differently than either Democrats -or- Republicans. They would like to see the govt. a lot smaller and cheaper, as they insist it used to be like before the Civil War. I don't agree with them, but I admire their honesty and consistency. Everyone wants lower taxes, and all politicians promise lower taxes, but only the Libertarian Party comes out before each election with a list of programs they will actually reduce or eliminate. I really like that! But you will notice that not a lot of Libertarians get elected. Perhaps if a Libertarian president did get elected, once in office he'd change his mind. After running as a budget hawk, once in office he'd decide that debt simply didn't matter any more. Like Reagan and both Bushes. But after the Republicans posted big losses in two consecutive elections, they co-opted the Tea Party as a 'stealth' Republican Party. The Tea Party now is mostly made up of the Republicans' old base. They want promises of lower taxes, but NOTHING cut from govt. That's not a Libertarian idea, it's a Republican one, one that has brought us no end of grief. The Repubs are trying to take advantage of the (totally understandable) anger and frustration of Tea Partiers. They are trying to morph the party into the We Hate Obama Party. Republicans didn't give a sh*t when GW Bush used the Constitution for toilet paper. THEIR president said the Constitution was 'just a goddamned piece of paper'. He declared himself immune to laws he himself passed more than 1500 times. He simply ignored any law, national or international, that was inconvenient for him. He authorized torture, suspended Habeas Corpus, tapped phones without a warrant, the list goes on and on. So it's kind of ironic now for Republicans to criticize Obama for not following the Constitution. For decades now, Republicans seem to think that the Constitution, and laws, only apply to Democrats! Republican voters and Tea Partiers now want to hear Reagan assuring them that we can balance the budget by spending MORE and taxing LESS. It was so easy for them to believe in 1980. Reagan really sold the idea! One big problem for the GOP is that they're all out of Reagans.
