I have an extra monitor, a printer and a set of speakers currently connected to the laptop, but it would be nice to streamline all this into a docking station so that I don't have to unplug it all when I take the laptop on the go.

Its an Alienware laptop, and the docking station/hub that they sell is not really what I'm looking for. So I'm assming I will need some sort of universal docking station

You don't have a lot of choices unless you are going to really cobble something up - you have to get the same brand so that when you slip the laptop into place all of the connections are made automatically.

what is the laptop maker? usually they have docking stations to match. Like a HP...
