I'm black ( I really don't consider nor call myself "african american" and hate it when someone else does). As for hispanics, I think it varies. My mom is half cuban & she doesn't even acknowledge that part of her, we don't speak spanish, my grandfather didn't teach it to her. She like me was raised predominatley by my maternal grandmother's side of the family (black & native american) so she just considers herself black. My grandpa who is cuban consider himself black also. But I grew up w/ friends were puerto rican & dominican and it depened some of them considered themselves "p.r." or dominican & some just said they were black. It depends on the individual & where and who you are raised myself and my friends we were all raised in the Bronx, N.Y. baby where hispanics & blacks are one!
