Congradulations!!! There is victory in cooking the MEAT!!! 1.) Put pineapple rings all over the ham , use toothpicks to hold them on by spearing them on. 2.) Put about 12-15 Cloves (push them in firm enough to hold, but still see), this not only adds flavor, but makes a great appearance. 3.) Bake @ 350-400 for at least 4 to 6 hours!! (if it appears to getting dry,cut into it several places & use a can of COKE). Or until completely cooked!! This is a very basic resipiept, and will bring cheers from all enjoy the feast!!

Usually there is a cooking guide included with the ham. A good guideline is to cook it 15-20 min per lb. at 325 to 350 degrees. I stud my ham with whole cloves & bake it covered until the last 30 minutes. The last 30 min I uncover it & baste it with a honey glaze. For the glaze mix 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 orange juice, & 1/2 cup honey. Use 1/2 of glaze 30 min before ham is done & 1/2 15 min before ham is done. Remove the cloves, let set for 10 to 15 min before slicing.

I would use a crock pot or turkey roaster. In your case it should have plenty of flavor so I think a little bit of water in the bottom and it is set. Another way to cook it would be just a standard roasting pan in the oven or a very delicious way if you have the time is to cook it in a smoker. As for ease the crock pot would be easiest as it is your first time. If you had a plain flavored have I prefer pineapple or a little bit of maple syrup on it which you might consider a little bit of maple on it as that is always good.

Good luck,

Add pineapple rings and pour ginger ale (preferably Vernor's) over the ham. It shouldn't take too long to cook, approx. 20 min. per pound, I think.
