I scheduled a physical check up with a dr. that was referred to me..the person who scheduled the appointment knew I was a new patient and scheduled me. When I got there I waited 1 hour finally they call me in (I should have left earlier). Assistant explains to me Dr. will only see me for first time consultation(nocheck up) and get to know me better and I have to schedule an appointment after for the physical... Wait wait...I waited 1 hour, your gonna run my insurance and your gonna do what you can do in 1 visit in 2 visit's instead? Hey I didn't go to play around I'm not gonna pay to "get to know the Dr." I don't feel my insurance or I should pay for that!! Why do I have to pay for 2 visit, when it can be done in one. I demanded my co-pay back and did not reschedule I felt lied to and almost ripped off...they gave me my money back..I think this falls into insurance fraud..

Good for you. There is absolutely no reason a doctor needs a "get to know you" appointment to perform a routine physical. A physical is not brain surgery.

I have had at least 10 physicals in my lifetime. I have never, ever had to schedule a separate consultation appointment.

I applaud you for sticking to your guns and refusing to pay for the visit, and refusing to schedule a second appointment. Sometimes, doctors just do not realize that their patients have schedules as well, and don't have endless amounts of time to waste on useless medical appointments. Thanks to you, this doctor may now be aware of that fact.

Call around and find another practitioner. This particular doctor is an anomaly. 99% of doctors will perform a physical without requiring a separate appintment.

Oh more times than I care to mention sweetie. I know the exact feeling and I have had to remind myself that I am an adult .. and that I could go to JAIL for ripping a kids face off! lol (Ok, well that exact thought has never quite come to mind but giving them a da*mn good shake sure has!) ;-) Matter of fact just this week I had to contain myself because my son won 2nd place at the science fair and all these kids started giving him cr*ap because I was in charge of it. Well ... I certainly didn't do the judging so I had nothing to do with that. I just set it all up. I wanted to march over to his classroom and start "rippin"! lol Luckily his teacher calmed me down and I was fine. ;-) My son is just such a truly sweet boy as is your daughter ... and it kills him when someone gets mad at him or wants to tear him down for no reason. Your daughter is going to be just fine ... although she may get hurt from time to time I hope she always maintains her sweet heart and willingness to be a friend. It is, I have found, a much more rewarding way to live in the end ... Peace and calm to you! =) *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* P.S. Apple juice although I don't care much for either! =D

It is a good thing, the doctor needs to meet and get to know you. There are things he needs to know about your lifestyle that are not in your medical history. Your eating habits, drinking habits, and exercise habits to name a few. I would be happy to have a doctor who cared about me instead of just jumping in and assuming things.

Medical history. Thats what the Dr. wanted to know. It would have helped him greatly with your checkup.
