Assuming the question is metaphorical... no. Mice don't always play when the cat is away. But then again, maybe the cat should stay closer to home?

yes, and a few times they will even start eating eachothers body parts...i know, mine did that. I came home and all three mice were missing legs. weird

Sometimes. And when they do they also tend to leave little droppings they forget about which lets the cat know where to put the traps.
