First off,
I don't think it matters how good your friends are versus you. You're not riding for them; your riding for YOU. If they are true friends then they will help you learn and will give you support. They will also have patience. You also need to have some patience with yourself. I've rarely seen anyone pick-up snowboarding "really well" in a day or even a few days. It takes time and practice.
Second, Your attitude makes all the difference in wether you will succeed in snowboarding or not. I wouldn't worry about learning with someone else. Again, if your friends are "really" friends, they will support you and join you on easy trails, jumps and tricks while you're still learning.
You really could use at least a couple of sessions in a instructional program at a winter resort. Your safety and enjoyment would fare much better as a result and instructors are apt to critique your riding in ways that you and your friends may not notice.
Good luck!

Don't worry about your friends - just get good equipment, get some lessons and practice like crazy. You will have a great time and meet some new friends that you can ride with at your level.
Chances are that within a season or two you will be able to keep up with your friends and you will probably find they aren't as good as they say they are. You don't need to be able to pull off a 540 to ride down the pipe with your friends so go for it!
Good Luck

snowboarding is a lot greater stable than snowboarding, merely be waiting for that. It took me some 0.5 of a season to sense thoroughly mushy driving and hitting jumps/ jibs. yet i think it easily relies upon on the guy. additionally, once you first commence snowboarding you fall on your butt, lots. And it hurts like a *****. Be waiting for that haha. As for renting/ determining to purchase, you ought to to hire the 1st time just to work out in case you like it, and purchase one later. some reliable manufacturers are K2, Burton, GNU snowboards, and plenty greater. merely flow to a ski save or a skate save and ask the individuals there for a powerful beginner board. they're going to set you up. have exciting! EDIT: I dont rather get what that different guy is speaking approximately while he says lean on your front foot. you will desire to not lean decrease back too lots, which will kill you. yet you will desire to not placed a ton of weight on your front foot the two.

since your friends are already really good, you will be motivated to be really good too, so you will progress really quickly. when i first started snowboarding, i didn't have any friends who snowboarded, so i was still pretty bad after my first year of snowboarding. but last year, one of my other friends started (last year was my 3rd year of snowboarding), and she progressed really really quickly because she wanted to catch up to where i was. so just keep pushing yourself past your comfort zone because that's the only way you'll ever get anywhere!! good luck!!!
