I just started grade 10 and I am suddenly really interested in university. I want to work extrememly hard to get into a great universtity. I did really badly in Jr. high though. I barely got into pure classes. Will that effect my entrance to a good university or do they not look at your Jr. high marks?

They only look at your high school grades. If you want to get into a good university (a UNC/UVA/UMD etc..) then be sure you are taking advanced placement level classes. They look at both the grades you got and the difficulty of the class you took. Be sure you can write well, be able to write a succinct essay that gets your message across.

Take the PSAT ASAP to prepare for the SAT and ACT exams.

Getting into the schools like UNC, Davidson, North Eastern etc.. is VERY competitive. If you want to get into an elite school, Harvard, Duke, Dartmouth you need to be in the top 10% of your class and basically ace the SAT. Also, if your thinking about nursing as a career that is probably the most competitive program to get into right now.

They probably won't but they will look askance at someone who confuses "effect" and "affect". Luckily, you have time to get your grades up.
