we are not the easily offended type of people, especially when it comes to strangers who, we are well aware that, they are strangers..
i do sometimes wish people mix me for a foreigner so that i can be free from some customs you want to bind yourself with..
Anyway..thanks for your concern for the feeling of the people here, that's a nice thing to think about..

I would say the biggest custom to observe is tipping when you go to restaurants. You should tip 15% to 20% of the total bill when you go out to eat. You should also tip bellboys (10-15%) and cab drivers (10-15%), and maids at your hotel on your final day of checkout (3-5 dollars per day that you stay).

Other than that, just be polite and have a good time.

If you are going to the middle east and you are about to shake someone's hand, do NOT touch them with your left hand. Also, do not show (point in someone's direction)the bottom of your foot (sitting with legs crossed). If in the far east (Japan) and you bow, bow at the waist and never bow lower than your host.
