It has no influence on those of us with half a brain. Believe it or not there are people in the U.S. who don't watch that drivel. The rest of 'em can go rot their minds all they want, and those of us with more sense will continue to hold the corners of this decaying society together for as long as we can manage.

cause we've tried every cop show and every nerd-hero show, and every sci-fi and time-travel, every home and garden, every normal family show, and they've all been played out. it's hard to find a new spin on plots, but people are wild cards. plus we have made ourselves so busy that we've shoved REAL people out of our lives, not having time for them. we can fast-forward the "friends" we have TiVo'd but it takes actual patience and self-sacrifice to make actual friends.
EDIT: Yes, I agree with the answer below mine--I was definitely being tongue-in-cheek. I make time for my friends but have definitely noticed our socitey (why I said "we") doesn't get personal the way we used to. We're on the same page here.
