Well the thing about snowboarding is you will get better really fast. Your friends won't likely want to wait for you, but you can go up there together and ride by yourself most of the day, meet somewhere at a certain time for lunch, and ride the chair lift together a few times. I used to go up at night after work and went by myself almost every time. I eventually did get better.

Don't worry about your friends. Just let them know they don't have to wait for you. You'll likely meet some nice people on the chair lift and mountain. People are often pretty helpful. And it might be good to take a few lessons as they can really help you to improve.

Don't worry about riding with your friends at first - just get nice equipment, get some lessons and practice a lot - you will be able to keep up with them before you know it.

Most people learn to snowboard very quickly - it is getting really good that takes the time. You will have a godd time learning and meet some new friends that you can ride with at your level. Chances are that within a season or two you will be able to keep up with your friends and you will probably find they aren't as good as they say they are. You don't need to be able to pull off a 540 to ride down the pipe with your friends so go for it!

Good Luck
