Nationalism is sort of like a high school clique. You start to think that you and your friends (country) are the only really cool ones in the world. That you can do no wrong. That everyone else are jerks. That your beliefs, customs, traditions, religion, and language are the very BEST and all others are inferior. So, yes, nationalism has a lot of cons.

Wow, 1st answer was pretty good. The big con of nationalism is that it inhibits the ability to see the good qualities of other cultures, religions, ethnicities, etc. The focus of nationalism seems to be almost blinding. If my country is so great, why would I think your different way has any value?

Nationalism in which definition of the term? Western (if so, political or cultural)? Soviet? Indian? Anyone else's?
