And in my world, if you are going to let a conservative talk show use you to make your entire race look stupid just to get a few measly bucks - you are dumb.

There have been other self-proclaimed "black leaders" that have happily accepted invitations to be political straw-man punching bags for Fox pundits. (Jesse Jackson and Quannel X come to mind.)
Yet, knowing Al Sharpton, if it were not for FOX, he would probably find some other outlet to latch onto just for the attention, regardless of the pay.

I doubt that either Geraldo or Sharpton are dumb, they are just in it for the money, and have found a platform that pays them very well.

I don't know how much of a leader he is, but he is black so I can not dispute your assertion.
BTW, Does this make "Rush Limbaugh" a "white leader" since he has a much larger following than Al Sharpton?

sharpton isn't a leader, he's a follower. He follows the news to protest any Afro-American news to protest or contest. Sharpton is an absolute racist
