our report card system is open now to enter grades, but the report card doesn't go out til the week before xmas. all of my grades starting next week will count towards the next marking period.

At my school, the grading period ends, and the teachers have 2 weekends to update report cards before they go home. So, typically the grading period ends on a Friday. The teacher has Saturday and Sunday, plus the full next week - and the report cards would then go home the following Monday.
