You can report and remain anonymous.

If your report is abuse, neglect, abandonment, etc., they will detain the children if there appears to be prima facia evidence. After that, 3 working days to go to court for a Detention Hearing.

Generally, a report of neglect (filthy home, inadequate food) takes up to 10 working days to respond.

For physical or sexual abuse, usually they will respond within 2 hours. Being timely with the report helps, because cuts and bruises are evidence.

If everyone circles the wagons and denies your allegations, and there is no obvious evidence to warrant removal, the kids will most likely stay.

If there is evidence that the children cannot reasonably remain safe in the home/care of the parents, and that only court mandated services are likely to insure the safe reunification, the kids will be detained, and the parents will be invited to a Team Decision Meeting to discuss the necessary services to remedy the problems leading to the abuse or neglect.

The kids will remain in foster care while the parents complete the services. Around here, it's parenting classes, anger management, substance abuse treatment, and mental health treatment.

Kids can be placed with appropriate relatives, and the relatives can be paid the same rate of pay as a foster parent...if the relatives go through the foster parent certification. In some cases, it can be expedited.

You should have had the option of reporting the claim anonymously. Even if you do leave your name and number, that's only for the use of the caseworker. They will not and can not tell the accused who reported him. I think sometimes the accused can figure it out, though. I've heard instances where a copy of the report was given to the accused, and they could tell by what was said who reported them. If you're concerned, call your local police dept and ask them what they suggest. Maybe you can get a temporary restraining order, stay with friends or family for a bit, or at the very least, stay on the alert. Keep your car in the garage, and all of your doors and windows locked, even when you're home. Install a security system or even just some outdoor flood lights that are motion-activated. Sleep with your cell phone nearby, just in case you wake up and think there's someone in your house.

They will not necessarily remove the children to foster care. That decision depends on a lot of factors. However, they will appoint a Social Worker to interview the parents/guardians and the child to see what is going on.

Why not call the Child Abuse Hotline and ask them? They might even be able to know what the laws are in Florida regarding this.

I don't know how it is in Florida, but in Texas, you can report it anonymously. Then CPS prioritizes depending on your report of abuse. If it is urgent, they are there within 24 hours.

The child is checked out by a medical doctor, and a specially trained worker talks to the child to hear what abuse has taken place. CPS tries to teach the parents to become better parents, and their ultimate goal is to reunite the children with the parents.

I used to run daycares. I've seen CPS take a child from a parent immediately. I've also seen CPS do nothing, and the child was killed by the father. So it all depends on the caseworker.

The process depends on the laws of your country, which you didn't name.

In most Countries / States / Provinces there's an agency that handles the protection of children. Usually someone from that agency will visit the family, speak to the parents, examine the kid, and if they feel it's justified they'll take action from there.

They will investigate probably within 24 hours, if they find something they will take action, if not I think it stays on record. You can be anonymous. Good for you, you are doing the right thing if you suspect abuse.

They will do an investigation to see if the report is valid. What you may think is abuse may be entirely different in reality.
