My troop wants everyone with a leadership position to attend the PLC's and if they don't meet the required percentage of the plc's they cant have there leadership position. I have been missing a majority of them, but i have actively participated in everything else. According to the BSA website only the Patrol leaders and a few others mentioned are supposed to go, but the scribe is not mentioned. Several troop websites also don't have the scribe go. Can anyone help me?

Hello Ma77hew:

The position of Scribe is not a leadership position in the traditional sense; the Scribe has no authority over another Scout. However, the SPL or Scoutmaster may request the Scribe to participate in the PLC's if this is your specific troop policy.

Scouting is not about preventing boys from earning advancement; it is there to provide the opportunity for boys to learn leadership. If you cannot attend the PLCs as a Scribe, ask your SPL or Scoutmaster for alternative ways in which to prove your leadership.

Keep on Scoutin'
