I applied for a job and was told that i was hired as soon as my background check came back. Well i got into a argument with a neighbor and the neighbor told my other neighbor that she was going to call the place where i was getting the job at and tell them that i only wanted the job so i could steal from the store. The manger told me about the incident and that the same day i was told she was going to do this that she actually did!! Now the manger will not hire me over hear say. After she promised me the job and told friends and family members that i was going to be hired untill my neighbor called and lied on me. Isnt this hear say? Slander? Cant anything be done about this matter? If so, what? Isnt this discrimination? Not to mention the same person has Schizophrenia!! She has harassed me numberous times and called the police on me for false reasons which was found out when the law arrived!! Can anyone help me? Do i need to get a lawyer and should i?

What's the point of sueing your neighbor? Just go find another job and don't tell the neighbor this time.

It also isn't the employers fault, you came across as a nut with baggage as soon as your neighbor started calling.

You can't suit the store because there was actually an argument between you and your neighbor. This is a very poor practice in work because it indicated that you are highly likely to offence their customers. nevertheless, that manager should give you a chance to explain; but this is merely a thing in his management skill. Nothing related to discrimination. All based on performance.

You can definitely suit your neighbor or even apply some restriction from law-court to restrict the physical distance between you and your neighbor.

However, for community relationship, law is the last resource. You should try to understand your neighbor, try to make peace with her. You may ask for help from social worker or some human relationship consultant or simply read books on Emotional Intelligence and constructive confrontation.

You have good grounds for a lawsuit.

Your neighbor lied about you, and it cost you a job.

But.... does she have enough money to make it worth your while to sue her?

You have NO case against the store. It's perfectly legal for them to simply say "We don't want an employee that this has been alleged against". They're not required to check if it's true or not.

If that would not artwork, record a breach of settlement lawsuit. record it in the region the place you entered into the settlement to purchase the utility. do not try this your self. the corporate would have a lawyer.
